Create a night out right at home with an ice cream treat inspired by the dessert served at Mexican restaurants. Our recipe for Fried Ice Cream Mini Bowls skips the messy frying part and uses scoops of vanilla ice cream rolled in Cinnamon Toast Crunch™ cereal to create the signature flavor. Sweetened Old El Paso™ Mini Soft Tortilla Bowls create the perfect base for this fried ice cream bowl recipe. Top with fresh berries, whipped cream, and drizzle with honey for your very own personalized fried ice cream sundae.

Try adding banana slices or toasted coconut to top fried ice cream.

To soften ice cream, remove from freezer to refrigerator 5 minutes before needed. Using a cookie scoop will make quick work of scooping the ice cream and ensuring they are all the same size.

For best success in this fried ice cream bowl recipe, we used a premium ice cream with a higher butterfat content, which tends to melt less when working with it. Working in batches and quickly as you scoop and roll the ice cream will give you the best results.

Wearing food-safe plastic gloves when rolling the ice cream balls helps the ice cream not melt quickly and is less messy. Single-use plastic gloves can be found at most large retailers.

Learn how to make Piñata Cupcakes, and you'll have everyone looking forward to your next party. Make and bake the cake mix, then cut a small hole to create a pocket in the center of the cupcake to fill it with your piñata goodies (rainbow-colored sprinkles and mini chocolate-covered candies). Want even more color? Divide the frosting up, and add different gel food colors for a fun rainbow effect. A cupcake is always a treat, but every bite of this fun, candy-filled Piñata Cupcakes recipe is a fiesta.

pinata cupcakes

We recommend using gel food color, which can bring vibrant colors that won’t change the frosting consistency.

Pipe frosting onto cupcakes using a pastry bag and piping tip to give a more polished decorating look. For easy cleanup, look for disposable pastry bags, which often come with various piping tips.

To give these Piñata Cupcakes a festive look, we’ve used a variety of gel food colors. Try to look for inside-of-the-cupcake sprinkles and candies that match the frosting colors.

For a quick and easy way to make the pockets in the cupcakes, use a 1-inch round cookie cutter.

For the maximum piñata effect of candy spilling out of the cupcakes, fill the cupcakes with the sprinkles and candy on the same day they'll be enjoyed.

These Homemade Baked Churros take just 15 minutes of prep time, meaning you can enjoy the flavor of the classic Mexican dessert without the frying. What's the trick? Turning Pillsbury™ Crescent Rolls into crescent churros! They're oh-so-simple and extra fun to pull together. Melted chocolate adds even more decadence to these sweet oven-baked churros.

homemade baked churros

Traditional churros are strips of dough that are deep fried and rolled in cinnamon and sugar. In this Homemade Baked Churros recipe, we simplify the dessert by sprinkling cinnamon sugar on crescent dough, twisting it into strips and baking.

For a more casual look for your Homemade Baked Churros, dip a fork or spoon into the melted chocolate, and quickly move your wrist back and forth to create a zigzag pattern.

It’s handy to keep a kitchen ruler nearby, so you can make sure your rectangle turns out the right size.
