Vegetarian Tofu Tacos
Who says you need beef to have a dang good taco? Crumbled, extra firm tofu gets golden and crispy in the pan, then joins forces with Old El Paso™ Original Taco Seasoning Mix for a vegetarian take on our classic beef taco recipe. Looks like there’s a new sheriff in taco town.
Ingredient List
- 1 package (14 oz) extra firm tofu, drained
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 1 packet (1 oz) Old El Paso™ Original Taco Seasoning Mix
- 1 box (4.7 oz) Old El Paso™ Stand 'n Stuff™ Taco Shells (10 Count), heated as directed on package
Preparation
Pat the tofu dry with paper towels and crumble it to resemble ground beef.
In a 10-inch nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add the tofu and cook, stirring occasionally, until light golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes. Stir in the taco seasoning and 1 cup water; cook until most of the liquid is absorbed, 5 to 7 minutes.
Divide tofu among the heated shells and serve with toppings of choice.
